The youth of St. Paul Church in Neenah Wisconsin have shown more dedication to this event than any other activity. Anyone who thinks that the youth of America is only interested in their own comforts and lifestyle need to rethink their position in my mind. (music bed is subtle, headphones help)
When the youth are able to understand and verbalize (as they did in this video) just why they participated in an event like this, you know it was a success. Great video.
I think that the activity (the 30 Hour Famine) is an event/program that was created by World Vision and I think that it's a matter of having an event that is structured specifically for youth awareness. It's been around for years and years and it might simply be the case that it's a particular area that ELCA World Hunger didn't address when they started it.
In any case, as I said, this in no way represents the complete breadth of our congregation's efforts in this area. It happens to be one event during which I had the time to shoot some video and talk with some young people that I thought needed to be lifted up.
I would like to commend Tim Kolb for taking the time and effort to "produce" this video - what a great way to show everyone the dedication our youth have for world hunger. Thank you, Tim
World Vision has had this 30 Hour Famine for many years, designed as a youth event.
This in no way defines the complete breadth of causes our congregation supports.
I hope your comments aren't implying criticism of young people who are giving of themselves to make a difference...I don't think that's what we're here for.
Thanks Will. The intention behind shooting footage of the event was never to do something only 90 seconds long...there is much that obviously can't be shown. However, I think it provides a glimpse of what went on. There are lots of examples of this sort of service among these videos. Maybe they'll keep them available for inspiration after the contest is over...
Great work everybody. So inspiring!
