What a great Lutheran Christian message... we are Christians before anything else... Christians who happen to be teachers... Christians who happen to be farmers, etc. A creative and inspirational video reminding us that whatever we do as our vocation, what's most important is that it is God-inspired! God's work. Our hands! Thank you St. Paul's for your powerful message!
To badger26...it is through our everyday lives that Christians have the opportunity to do God's work. This video is a great way of showing that even though we don't all have the gift of being a pastor of a church, we all can do something with our own hands in our every day lives to serve other people and spread the message of God's love. I am really disappointed to read your comments about this video. Pastor Pete, this is the kind of enthusiasm we need in the church at large to bring in young people and spread the good news of God's grace and love. Keep up the GREAT work!! You have many people who support your ministry, even if it is from afar!
Sorry, but I am really having trouble accepting this video, as well done as it is and as creative and active Pastor Pete is.
Luther always said that "all work has dignity" and that we should all do our jobs well. Jesus probably worked as a carpenter from about age 12 to approximately 30 when he began his actual ministry on Earth. Yet what he did as an occupation pales significantly when we consider His ministry of just three years. He suffered and sacrificed during his ministry and, of course, on the cross.
Just doing our jobs doesn't normally require a great deal of suffering and sacrifice, just hard work. And almost all of us get paid for our work. To me, Christian service requires and even demands that we extend ourselves far above and beyond our normal activities and jobs, especially to serve those who have serious physical, mental, emotional and/or spiritual needs.
Incidentally, I know I would enjoy being a member of Pastor Pete's congregation, though. His personality comes "bubbling" through this entire message. Congregations need more young, vital and enthusiastic pastors like Pastor Pete.
I just don't want people to get the idea that just doing their ordinary, everyday job is all there is to helping those in need! To me, that's cheap, easy Grace that's hardly worth mentioning.

This pastor's idea of distributing copies of God's hand to everyone is fine. And I really appreciate his enthusiasm!
BUT, doing God's work with our hands should be reaching out to people in trouble. Doing our everyday work well is certainly God';s work. BUT, giving a hand to those who need it most is a much higher level of reaching out. Great video, but I can't vote for it.
Pastor Pete you are a blessing to be blessed. Cy is looking down smiling down upon the good works you are doing in the name of God!
God's richest blessings to you and the work you are doing. . . we are so proud of you, love you and thank God for you...this is most certainly true!
Continued blessings in your ministry. . . Sarah Kemppainen another PK on the religious road of life! PAX
I love this video, Pastor Pete, I watched it a while ago but it took awhile to figure out how to vote on here. I hope that this video can put a smile on everyone's face and cause more people to realize the amount of work that is accomplished through God's Work and Our Hands. Great job again, Pastor Pete! :-)
God is working through this video. I viewed it a few weeks ago and have been noticing hands everywhere ever since. Hands lifting, hands preparing, hands fishing, hands comforting, hands praying, hands hitting volleyballs. They've been there all along. I just see them more now that I've viewed this video. His work is constant. He is so VERY alive! Well, done, Pator Pete!
Pastor Pete, I don't belong to your church but if I ever find a need to change churches, yours will be my first choice. you are an awesome pastor and your church rocks!!
Pastor Pete, Christ has no body now but ours. Thanks be to God for your ministry and your affirmation of how each of us is a part of God's "handiwork". Kudos to you!

I remember picking "bue berries" with my wife Chris and the future Pastor Pete 29 years ago at Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp. It was already starting - God's Work-Our Hands. Blessing Pete!!
We thought this was really cool! Hope we don't lose you to Hollywood to make movies!! Great Job...hopefully it will win! We will forward this to get others to watch too...Go St. Paul's! The Razinks
Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord and not for your masters, since you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:23-24
This video makes the very important point that both clergy and laity serve the Lord in their vocations, daily tasks, and recreation.
Way to go, bro! Great idea for the video. It's fast-paced, fun and on-point. (You should work in advertising.) God's work. Our hands. BTW, the ELCA needs to trademark that now before anyone else takes it!
You're right out there spreading the word "God's Work, Our hands". Way to go Pastor Pete!
